At Kolskoot, we specialize in game meat and offer a complete branded biltong and meat shopping experience. This means you can expect consistency in quality, taste and tenderness across our entire range - so you can shop with confidence. We also specialize in game processing at our factory in Windmeul, Paarl. Hunters can bring their carcass and we process the meat according to your requirements. Kolskoot is managed by family people who take tremendous pride in what they do.

This includes, protecting the biodiversity of the farms, raising animals that are free to roam and practice natural behaviours, and be free from synthetic chemicals and HGPs (Hormone Growth Promotants). We value the meat you eat.

Freddie's mission is to bring back the local neighborhood butcher, creating an holistic, sustainable business modality, which inspires, promotes and supports true wellness and respect for all beings and for Mother Nature with low-waste methodologies.

Freddie Janse van Rensburg

​Freddie was born in Wellington, South Africa and from the moment he could taste, smell and see he fell in love with his first life-long partner, and heavenly temptress, meat.

It all started with his mother's passion for home bake and his father's passion for fishing and game hunting. He developed a true passion for quality foods. He therefore started processing his own meat. Over the years friends and family requested his talent and passion for processing meat. After testing and improving his technique and recipes, he decided to start his own butchery that specializes in game processing.

Freddie started his butchery on Waboomsrust farm in 2002. Over the years he perfected the traditional recipes and has a reputation for his mouthwatering boerewors and biltong. Freddie Janse van Rensburg and his wife, Tanya, bought Kolskoot and took over from Hans Coetzee in 2021. They are excited to expand the availability of their product range.
